A newly refurbished boutique hotel and restaurant with views across the Gower peninsular has just opened in Llanelli .

The Llwyn Country House has opened in the Llwynhendy area of the town, offering accommodation, Sunday lunches, afternoon teas and even a venue for weddings.

The Victorian property has new tenants, the Swigg Group Ltd, who have given the space a complete overhaul, with outdoor seating, a bright restaurant, and free-standing baths in the bedrooms.

Sue Poole, one of the directors of the company leasing the hotel and who has been leading on the renovation, said: “In early January we started work on updating the hotel and have replaced and redecorated all the bedrooms and downstairs rooms.

“The snow delayed us as the slabs for our patio couldn’t be delivered.

“We’ve got luxury beds, Egyptian cotton, and we’ve just gone for a high-end, boutique style hotel.”

Also associated with The Swigg in Swansea marina, the Llwyn Country House will be open for evening meals on Fridays and Saturdays.

Mrs Poole added: “We will be doing Sunday lunches, Friday and Saturday evening meals and people can book in for afternoon teas.

“We will be offering high-end, local Welsh produce food.

“We’ve already got three weddings booked in.

“The old tenants went into liquidation so we will now be honouring those weddings.”

“We’ve got a Welsh theme and each room has a theme all around love and each room key has a lovespoon on it.”
