Created by an idea that two young boys from Southern Taiwan had eighteen years ago, Taiwan Little Eats brings affordable Taiwanese street food to the city of Madison.

Located at 320 State St., the restaurant is located conveniently between the State Capitol and the University of Wisconsin campus. Because of this easy accessibility, this restaurant is one to stop by and check out soon.

Taiwan Little Eats has a cozy atmosphere that can keep you occupied on your school work for hours. The set up includes an assortment of table sizes and couches to give diners the choice of visiting solo or in larger groups.

The walls are colorful and filled with beautiful decoratives while sounds of up-and-coming Taiwanese musicians fills the entire restaurant.  I have not heard many songs from the country before, and I really enjoyed what they had to offer.

If you’re getting tired of your usual cafe hangout, Taiwan Little Eats is a good spot to change things up. The place is also a good choice for a casual meet up with an friend or a fun date.

The menu consists of nibbles and little-eats that are perfect for a quick snack or light meal in addition to a few big-eats. The big-eats consist of bento boxes made with chicken or pork. Each box contains rice, a soy-stewed egg, pickled carrots, cilantro and broccoli.

They also have an vast assortment of teas including brewed and milk teas with flavors of black, green and oolong. You can choose to have your drink served hot or cold with ice.

During my visit, I ordered a fried chicken wrap. The item is a part of the little-eats section and comes in bite-sized pieces of chicken and vegetables. To drink, I had the Taiwan pouchong milk tea served hot with oolong. This was the perfect choice to warm me up on a cold afternoon.

With all the options Taiwan Little Eats already has, there are still more to come. A larger selection of refreshments including iced fruit teas and some caffeine-free steamers and smoothies are coming soon.

Whether you are from Taiwan and missing home or simply in search of some good Taiwanese food right here in the states — go try Taiwan Little Eats.

And if you don’t see yourself going to the area anytime soon but still want some little-eats, they also deliver. Taiwan Little Eats is still hiring for certain positions if you are looking for a job.
