It's always nice to take a break from slaving over a hot stove and head out for food and in Dudley, there's a lot of restaurants to choose from.

Across the borough, there's a real variety on offer - from pub grub to curry houses, Thai, Italian and more - so it can be hard deciding where to go.

It can also be a real gamble trying somewhere new, will the food be as good as sounds on the menu?

That's where we come in.

To help narrow down the search, we've compiled a list of the borough's highest overall ranking restaurants on Trip Advisor

This information is correct at time of writing (3pm on November 15, 2018).

1. Ann's Thai

Bilston Street, Sedgley, DY3 1JA

Ann's Thai

Trip Advisor rating: 4.5 (240 reviews, 65 per cent ‘excellent’)

Sample review: "This restaurant is beyond incredible! The food is amazing and is cooked perfectly. We had the set menu 3 which was around £21 each. It was extremely good value. The staff are fab and very welcoming. They were very knowledgeable on the menu and attended to our needs. The restaurant is small, but that is not an issue at all. It is situated at the back of the pub. We through choice went to the bar to order our drinks, which again were incredibly priced. A beer and a flavoured gin were about £6. We are counting down to our next visit! This is my favourite restaurant and I have eaten in many restaurants but none come close to this!"

2. The Summerhouse

Gospel End Road, Sedgley, DY3 4AN

The Summerhouse

Trip Advisor rating: 4.5 (279 reviews, 71 per cent ‘excellent’)

Sample review: "Great. Every time I visit I cannot find fault with this little gem. My dad, who is a retired chef, was well happy with his liver and onions, the rest of us had fish and chips which as usual was beautiful, it's the only place I go where I can happily eat the batter as well as the fish. Staff are lovely and accommodating, service isn't over fussy but adequate. Beer is well kept too.
Looking forward to going again, as is my dad who wants faggots next time!"

5. The Fellows

The Broadways, Dudley, DY1 4AN

The Fellows

Trip Advisor rating: 4.5 (319 reviews, 63 per cent 'excellent')

Sample review: "We visited this establishment for Sunday lunch, to be fair we haven't been here for years but decided to pop in. It was two courses for £10 which represents good value for money. The food was great and the service excellent. The beer sells itself and you wont beat it. We had a lovely time at The Fellows and will return again. Once again I have to compliment the young lady who served as our waitress very pleasant and attentive."

6. The Vine

Delph Road, Brierley Hill, DY5 2TN

The Vine

Trip Advisor rating: 4.5 (195 reviews, 70 per cent 'excellent')

Sample review: "We popped in a bit late for a cooked lunch (2pm) but the cobs had been recommended so we had two of those (huge), a pork pie, a G&T and a a pint of beer (which I’m told was really nice) for less than £10! Oh and they also gave us some complementary chips. What a bargain! The pub itself is a traditional pub - not at all fancy, but the staff are friendly and the food was very good."

7. Cafe Casita

Clarence Street, Upper Gornal, DY3 1UP

Cafe Casita

Trip Advisor rating: 4 (442 reviews, 64 per cent 'excellent')

Sample review: "What a lovely gem of a restaurant in the Midlands. I have lived in Dudley for 15 years and have never visited Cafe Casita until this year, despite many friends telling me how great it was. It is a lovely restaurant with fabulous home cooked Italian food that is difficult to beat. We always walk away stuffed....but have decided what we are going to order the next time we go. Everyone is treated as a regular with special attention. Well worth a visit."

8. The Mill

Windmill Street, Upper Gornal, DY3 2DQ

The Mill

Trip Advisor rating: 4 (76 reviews, 75 per cent 'excellent')

Sample review: "We drove past this pub a few weeks ago and liked the look so popped in for a couple of pints then decided to return and try the food. At first glance the menu is expensive but it is worth every penny. We had the mushrooms in poppadom bowl... Awesome and then the steak.. 18 quid but superb presentation and taste.. Lovely staff and nice room. Friendly locals and visitors. My new favourite pub."

9. Bella Italia

Castlegate Park, Dudley, DY1 4TB

Bella Italia

Trip Advisor rating: 4 (731 reviews, 48 per cent 'excellent')

Sample review: "We came here for a quick bite to eat before the Peaky Blinders night at the Black Country Museum. I have a Taste Card and with this on the doorstep it was perfect. I had mushrooms and my husband had prawns to start, and then we had a pizza each, both were absolutely delicious . The décor is fab and the waiter was attentive and courteous. We have a Bella Italia in our hometown and I can honestly say that this knocked spots off of it. I kind of wish I lived nearer as I would definitely return here again and again!"

10. The Dudley Arms

Wolverhampton Road, Himley, DY3 4LB

The Dudley Arms

Trip Advisor rating: 4 (440 reviews, 45 per cent 'excellent')

Sample review: "Easy to find. Highly accessible car park, and a spacious interior. Good honest pub grub, at prices that encourage return visits. If you have the carvery, take note of the sign that says no second helpings. This is not an 'All-you-can-eat' establishment, so pile your plate up first time round. I ran out of gravy towards the end my meal, and hadn't seen the notice, but the staff were prepared to make an exception."
