Bobcat Bonnie’s, a restaurant in Wyandotte, closed its doors Jan. 26 after eight years of business Downriver.
The restaurant closure was announced on its Facebook account Jan. 22.
“We sincerely appreciate all the love we’ve received over the last few years. Thank you Wyandotte for being amazing. To those people who have worked for us over the years- we are so grateful for you helping us create something great,” the post reads.
It went on to highlight how the restaurant has brought national television shows to Wyandotte, igloo dining (a year before it was required) and a unique dining room design.
On Jan. 14, the restaurant’s Facebook page announced that it would be switching its daily hours to only serve brunch from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Our hours will be changing to just brunch, and if brunch goes well, and we can see enough sales to keep our doors open, we will consider doing Bobcat at night again if the brunch sales bring in enough folks to sustain,” the post reads.
Bobcat Bonnie’s brunch included build-your-own mimosa, bloody marry, coffee and hot cocoa bars.
On Jan. 15, the restaurant’s page shared that its first day as a brunch-only spot was slow. The page continued with posts about its brunch service every day until Jan. 20, when the posts stopped and then on Jan. 22 the close was announced.
The restaurant first opened in Wyandotte in 2017. There are also Bobcat Bonnie’s location in Detroit, Ferndale, Grand Rapids, Lansing and Kalamazoo. There were previously locations in Ypsilanti and Clinton Township, but both have permanently closed within the past year.
Bobcat Bonnie’s owner Matthew Buskard declined to comment on the closing, but wrote in a Facebook message that the restaurant will be hosting a sale of equipment from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2.
He wrote that there will be chairs, restaurant equipment, catering supplies and more. The sale will take place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 1 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 at the restaurant’s location, which is 118 Sycamore Street in Wyandotte.
