Cracker Barrel outlets in Medford, Oregon; Columbia, South Carolina; and Sacramento, California, have all called time.

The restaurant that closed in Columbia had been a constant in the Sandhill community for more than a decade.

The chain said it had been honored to welcome guests into the restaurant.

Meanwhile, the recently closed Cracker Barrel outlet in Sacramento, California, had only been open for six years.

“We’re deeply saddened to announce this location has closed,” the chain said in a note pinned to the door.

Pictures have surfaced online that showed the restaurant boarded up, marking the end of an era.

Locals were excited when the Cracker Barrel store opened in Sacramento as pictures showed the line stretching out onto the restaurant’s porch, per The Sacramento Bee.

News of the closures has left diners in mourning.

“Will be sorry to see them close,” one fan despaired.

Comfort food fanatics took the opportunity to reminisce on their favorite memories.

“I love their breakfast,” another diner chimed.

Fans said they were upset to hear the Sacramento Cracker Barrel had closed its doors for good.

“I liked that spot. Good food and nice people, going to miss it,” a fan said.

California is home to five other Cracker Barrel establishments.

Restaurant closures in 2024

BOSSES at major dining chains have announced a series of restaurant closures. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list of the chain's affected.

  • Cracker Barrel: Stores in Medford, Oregon, Columbia, South Carolina, and Sacramento, California, have closed within days.
  • Mod Pizza: Bosses dramatically shuttered 27 shops, including in the state of California.
  • Frisch's Big Boy: Restaurant chiefs confirmed the closure of a restaurant in Covington, Kentucky.
  • Two Bucks: Four restaurants in Ohio are set to close.
  • Chili's: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has shut permanently.
  • Friendly's: Bosses confirmed an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island will close.
  • Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed at the end of March.
  • Denny's: Two restaurants in Boise and Nampa, Idaho, have closed.

Cracker Barrel is not the only restaurant chain that has seen store closures.

Chiefs at Two Bucks warned four of its six branches are to close.

Officials at the chain explained the closures are linked to difficulties post-pandemic.

“Navigating the restaurant industry in this post-pandemic world, with growing economic issues, is becoming increasingly difficult,” a statement said on Facebook.

Among the Two Bucks locations closing is a restaurant in Parma, Ohio.

“This was a very difficult decision for us to make, both personally and professionally, for many reasons,” bosses said.

“However, ultimately, this move will put the company in a much better position for continued success.”

Officials said the spirit of the chain would continue to live on at the locations set to remain open.
