Cameroon: AfDB approves resumption of contract award process for Bogo-Pouss road construction

(Business in Cameroon) - The Cameroonian Ministry of Public Work (Mintp) announced the resumption of the contract award process for the Bogo-Pouss road project. This follows the approval received from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the project’s main funder.

“The no-objection notice was granted on Monday, September 26, 2022, a few days after we submitted the pre-qualification proposals of some service providers for the construction of the Bogo-Pouss road to the relevant authorities of the African Development Bank. This will allow the contract award process to continue,” Mintp explained.

After this pre-qualification, which took as a reference the performance achieved by companies that have successfully carried out works in the North, the new procedure provides that the tender documents be forwarded to the internal procurement committees for examination, says Mintp. "We can therefore hope that the launch of the tender will take place in the coming weeks, with the particularity that some companies are already shortlisted,” the department said without revealing the pre-qualified companies.

The AfDB’s approval gave a new impetus to this process which has been lagging for 2 years. It was first launched on June 2, 2022, but was suspended in July 2022 over a long-running dispute between shareholders.
