Checkers, Rally's To Open 6 Rhode Island Restaurants

The Florida-based fast food chain is making a move into New England, the company said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island is getting some new fast food options.

Florida-based fast food chain Checkers & Rally's will open six restaurants in the Ocean State, the company announced Monday. The East Coast expansion will also include several restaurants in Maryland, South Carolina and Georgia.

"We are seeing rapid growth on the East Coast, and we are excited to partner with franchisees looking to capitalize on the opportunity we are experiencing in these markets. Demand for our drive-thru and delivery-focused model continues to grow," said Kristen McDonald, the vice president of Development at Checkers & Rally's. "We are thrilled to officially open in Rhode Island, and welcome our new partners to the Checkers & Rally's family. We look forward to working closely with them and all of our East Coast franchisees to help deliver an iconic experience to the communities they serve and ensure their overall success."

The fast food chain's hallmark is a small real estate footprint, focusing primarily on drive-through service. Restaurants have no indoor dining rooms and feature double drive-through lanes and walk-up windows.

The company did not say when the new restaurants are scheduled to open, or the locations of the six franchises in Rhode Island.
