This article is more than 4 years old.

Travel plans are often motivated by food, whether you’re craving a particular nation’s cuisine or coinciding your trip with a restaurant opening. Restaurants are a particular draw when globally prominent chefs are involved, so it’s no wonder collaborative chef dinners by some of the greatest talent on the scene garner such widespread attention. From Bangkok to Hanoi and an island in the Indian Ocean, these are the collaborative chef dinners worth traveling for this fall.

World Gourmet Festival at Siam Bangkok

The World Gourmet Summit 2019 will be returning to Bangkok from the 2nd to 8th September. Hosted at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, it will bring together 16 chefs from 11 Michelin-starred restaurants across nine countries. Dinners, brunches and masterclasses will showcase the culinary expertise of Michelin-starred chefs including Yoji Tokuyoshi of Ristorante Tokuyoshi in Milan, Andrea Spagoni of Beefbar in Hong Kong and Wolfgang Becker of Becker’s in Germany.

Throughout the week, some of these chefs will be participating in collaborative culinary experiences. Sign up for the six hands dinner with chefs Kai Ho, Richie Lin and Ian Kittichai or workshop with chefs Wolfgang Becker, Chiho Kanzaki and Marcelo di Giacomo. In between events, spent some time exploring the city and unwinding at the hotel’s Anantara Spa.

Culinary Stars 2019 at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

From October 6th to 13th, this luxury hotel will be welcoming 18 internationally renowned chefs for its Culinary Stars chef series. With eight Michelin stars between them, chefs include Jacques Pourcel of Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier, David Rathgeber of L’Assiette in Paris, Hervé Rodriguez of MaSa in Paris,  Raoul Meuwese of Bridges at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, and Michael Dyllong of Palmgarden in Dortmund.

The week will feature a series of special dinners and brunches, including the All Star Dinner created by 10 of the top participating chefs. The hotel itself is rated highly for its romance, history and character, with a French Colonial architectural style, neo-classical interiors and luxurious facilities including Vietnamese and French restaurants, a whisky lounge and cocktail bar, and a spa with garden courtyard and pool.

Gastronomy and Wine Series at Velaa Private Island

This November, Velaa Private Island is to host its second annual gastronomy and wine series. For this, the resort is bringing together wine makers and world-class chefs for a series of events held at the island’s signature restaurant, Aragu. Here, seven-course dinners with wine pairing will showcase the creativity of resident executive chef Gaushan De Silva in partnership with chef Brian Mark Hanson from Danish restaurant Søllerød Kro, Alain Alders of De Vrienden van Jacob in the Netherlands and Tristan Brandt from Opus V restaurant in Germany.

These dinners will be complemented by the expertise of winemaker Bibi Graetz; the owner of Domaine de la Côte in California, Rajat Parr; CEO of Artémis Domaines, Rodolphe Péters; owner of the historic Pierre Péters Champagne estate, Frédéric Engerer; and Alvaro Palacios of the eponymous wine estate. These culinary events are then made even more special by the beauty of the setting. Velaa lies in the Noonu Atoll with beachfront restaurants, lavish villas and an overwater spa just footsteps from the island's white sand shores and turquoise lagoon.
