MTS Armenia to have new owner
YEREVAN, January 23. /ARKA/. MTS Armenia, known at Armenian market as VivaCell-MTS, will change its owner – 99.9% of its shares will be alienated, according to the project placed on the website of the Public Services Regulatory Commission.
Taking into account Article 14 of the law on electronic communication and the transport, communication and information technology minister’s address dated from January 16, 2018 and MTS Armenia CJSC’s statement dated from December 27 and 29, 2017, the Public Services Regulatory Commission is planning to make a decision on alienation of the company’s stocks.
The commission says in its draft decision that 99.99% of the company’s shares that belong to KT Holding SAL (Lebanese registration) will go to Aramayo Investment Limited (Cyprus).
The remaining 0.01 percent belonging to other KT Holding SAL shareholders Pavel Masharov and Artyom Vasilyev – both Russian citizens, will be given to Aramayo Investments Limited as well.
According to some sources, Artyom Vasilyev and Pavel Masharov hold leading positions at Russia’s MTS.
Russia’s Mobile TeleSystems bought 80% of K-Telecom International Cell Holding ltd in 2007.
The cost of the deal was €310 million. For the remaining 20% an optional agreement has been sealed, which gives room for future acquisition.
ARKA News Agency asked VivaCell-MTS for comments on the expected deal.
VivaCell-MTS entered Armenia’s market in 2005. Its owner was K-Telecom, a company with Lebanese capital, which gave 80% of its shares to Russia’s MTS in 2007.
Before the appearance of VivaCell-MTS at Armenia’s mobile telecommunication market, only one company operated at the market.
Now Armenia has three mobile telecommunication operators – VEON Armenia (Beeline brand), VivaCell-MTS and Ucom. -0---
