Four people were injured after a fight broke out between two groups of youths at a restaurant in south Delhi’s Mehrauli on Saturday night.
The police said that a call was received at 9.20 p.m. about a scuffle at a restaurant in Mehrauli’s Ward No. 1. When a police team reached the spot, they were told that four youths: Akash, Praveen, DK and Vikas, were sitting in the restaurant when they were attacked by members of a rival gang with sharp-edged weapons.
The four injured were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre by locals. The doctors told the police that Akash and Parveen were in a critical condition and admitted to the ICU. The other two were reported to be out of danger.
An old issue
The police said that the scuffle broke out over an old issue between Vikas and a rival gang member Shikari.
On Friday, Vikas and Shikari had engaged in a verbal sapt following which Shikari had damaged Vikas’s new motorbike.
“Vikas along with his three other friends was sitting in a restaurant when around 9 p.m., an enraged Shikari along with four others: Deepak, Manish, Mohit and Roshan, barged into the restaurant and attacked the four youths. After stabbing the victims, they fled from the spot,” said Vijayanta Arya, ADCP (South).
A case of attempt to murder has been registered. The police said that all the youths involved in the incident belong to Mehrauli Ward No. 2 and are known to each other.
“We are examining CCTV footage to identify if there were more people involved in the scuffle. We have formed a team to arrest the accused,” said Ms. Arya.
On December 31 last year, a 30-year-old man was shot at following an argument at a New Year’s Eve party inside a bar in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash. The bar was illegally operating till after permissible time limit.
